Linda hand sews the most exquisite rainbow-colored ribbons and decorates them with beads and sequins. They are delightful and each one is truly a labor of love. In her letter to Mayor Giuliani, Linda dedicates these ribbons to all those affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001. Dear Mayor Giuliani, The rainbow has always been a symbol of God's "Promise of Hope" to people in all walks of life and the world. The world needs to be reminded of God's "Promise of Hope" now more than ever. The eyes of the country are on you as you go about the business of putting your city back together. If the world could see you, the rescue workers, our troops, the families and friends who lost loved ones and people just going about their daily lives all wearing ribbons in the colors of God's "Promise of Hope", the rainbow, along with the colors of freedom, red, white, and blue we could all be reminded that our country is still strong and, most of all, we still have God's "Promise of Hope" to lean on and comfort us. Thank you, Mayor Giuliani, for the way you have displayed your strength and courage while taking on the monumental and heartbreaking task set before you. I'm not a New Yorker, but I certainly would be proud if I were one.
Thanks for your time. Linda's Thoughts - 12 Months On... Mercy, how time flies. It's hard to believe its been almost a year since
the While still deeply saddened and outraged by the happenings of Sept. 11, 2001 the people I have occasion to come in contact with seem to be drawn closer to family and friends. We seem to have a deeper appreciation for what we have and the freedom that we are allowed to enjoy by being a citizens of this country. I, for one, have my American Flag flying high year round, not just on special occasions. In the few months following the Sept. 11 attacks I probably made 6 or 7 hundred of my Rainbow Ribbons. I had people sending them all over the country to their families and other people they know. I felt really good doing that. There was no way I could personally get out and fight for our country so making the Rainbow Ribbons was my way of saying , "Hey, I believe in this country and what the American people stand for." I was very proud to be a part of that moment in history in my own little way. I realize that the United States has its problems, we always have and we always will have, but I believe, like millions of others, We are still the best country on the face of the planet. Thanks for including me, and May God Bless America. Linda Waggoner WiredPatrol volunteers distributed the Promise Of Hope Ribbons on Linda's behalf! |
